What is a Wiki?
- A wiki is a medium which can be edited by anyone with access to it, and provides an easy method for linking from one page to another.
- Wikis are typically collaborative websites.
- Wikipedia is perhaps the best known wiki.
- Wikis typically are used for online work that is meant to be viewed rather than printed. You typically can view a wiki without a password, and each page has a unique web address.. You need a password to edit a wiki.
Examples of Wikis used in the Classroom and School
Turn Homeword, Hannalee - a wiki by 5th graders, centered around a novel. Note the page that explains the logistics of setting this wiki up with students.

Body System Wiki - 7th graders collaborate on a wiki report.
